Brazilian Demigods (CEmideuses)

CEmideuses ("demigods from Ceará" or "Brazilian Demigods") is a serie of digital artwork in where the author imagines what it would be like if mythological creatures walked the streets of Fortaleza, capital of the state of Ceará, in Brazil. The project explores the local and mythological collective imagery, relating Fortaleza's urban aesthetics and internal jokes to ancient myths and modern sagas. Main sources of inspiration are Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson & the Olympians and The Heroes of Olympus saga, especially the fandom from Fortaleza, called "Encontros de Semideuses de Fortaleza" (or "Demigods meetings of Fortaleza").

The project seeks not only to play with the idea of internationally known characters acting in everyday moments, but also tries to remember and value the beauty and particularity of the local aesthetics and culture.

In some works, part of the scenery was done by digital painting over photography. In others, the entire composition is original. In all, there is a special attention to the particularities of the local urban aesthetic
